Working with Recipes
The Recipes panel is essentially a catalog of your (favorite) recipes. It does not store actual recipes; instead it includes features to help you find the recipe you're looking for, provides information about recipes (so you can decide if you actually want to prepare them), and locates the recipe, whether from a cookbook, a card in a recipe box, a recipe app, etc.
Basic information about a recipe is displayed at the top and right side of the panel. The left side of the panel provides selection tools.
The Find function allows you to select recipes from your collection using a variety of selection criteria.
The recipes which meet all of the specified criteria appear in a list, from which you can select a recipe to display detailed information about it.
The right side of the panel is divided into four parts, selected by tapping on the selection buttons.
- Information section
The information section contains basic information about the recipe — where your copy of the recipe can be found, how you rate the recipe, and any preparation details that might influence your decision to use it.
- Ingredients section
The ingredients section contains a list of key ingredients. Don't list all of the ingredients used, just the important ones — the ingredients you might want to use in a search to find this recipe.
- Notes section
The notes section contains is a place for you to provide any thoughts or commentary about the recipe that you'd like to remember.
- Photo section
The photo section contains an optional picture of the dish (you can include a picture from your picture album or camera roll, or take a picture with your iPad camera if you have one).
The actions menu provides more features.
